Four Distinguished Scholars Named Emeritus Professors at Dhaka University
Dhaka University (DU) has honored four esteemed academicians with the prestigious title of emeritus professors. These distinguished scholars, Prof. Anwarullah Chowdhury, Prof. AFM Yusuf Haider, Prof. Tajmeri SA Islam, and Prof. Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to the university and their respective fields.
The announcement was made by Rafiqul Islam Panna, acting director of DU's Public Relations Office, who confirmed the news to The Daily Star. According to university sources, the decision was made by the university syndicate, following a recommendation from the Academic Council.
As emeritus professors, these scholars will continue to be affiliated with their departments, offering guidance and expertise in their academic disciplines. They will also contribute to the university's overall growth by advising on education, research, and innovative initiatives. The four professors will retain the privileges they enjoyed during their tenure, including access to the university library, secretarial support, and medical facilities, except for university housing.
This recognition highlights the profound impact these scholars have had on DU and their fields, ensuring their legacy continues to inspire future generations of academics.
