The Compactor's Capabilities and Limitations

While it can handle a vast array of soft plastics, there are a few exceptions, like ping pong balls, IV bags, and camera film. These items, Daly explained, could potentially damage the machine or pose safety risks.

The Recycling Process: A Step Forward, But...
Daly estimates that it takes about a month for most households to create a brick, equivalent to a 30-gallon trash bag full of bags. Once formed, these bricks can be shipped to Clear Drop's partner recycling facilities, with pre-paid shipping envelopes provided. The company conducts audits to ensure the bricks are indeed recycled, a necessary step to maintain transparency.
However, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. Why can't these bricks be recycled through our regular curbside bins? Daly assured me they're working towards expanding their recycling partnerships and hope to integrate with municipal recycling systems in the future. Shipping the bricks feels like a temporary solution, and the machine's price tag of $1,400 is certainly a consideration.
